Pallet Flow Rack in Savannah, GA
Pallet flow uses gravity-fed rollers to move compatible pallets from a loading end to a retrieval end. That first-in, first-out path can suit Savannah grocery and refrigerated inventory with a defined rotation requirement. We plan new lanes around the pallet construction, loaded weights and working stock quantity, then preserve access at both ends.
Rotation for grocery and refrigerated freight
Savannah's refrigerated imports and food distribution are creating demand for cooler and freezer storage. Darien's Tidewaters Industrial Complex already includes cold storage, Claxton has a dedicated cold storage facility, and Yemassee-area food distribution includes the Early Branch industrial campus. These settings give pallet rotation a practical role in the rack discussion.
A flow lane is not a substitute for understanding the inventory. Identify which items need first-in, first-out movement and how many compatible pallets are held for each. Mixed stock in small quantities may need selective positions beside the flow area. The lane count should follow working stock depth, not a single total pallet count for the building.
Check the pallet before setting the lane
Provide pallet construction, dimensions, load weight range and the condition in which the pallet reaches storage. Gravity-fed movement needs that compatibility review before roller and lane details are selected. Keep the loaded footprint, including overhang, in the aisle and beam discussion so a retrieved load has a clear path out of the rack.
The loading side needs a route from receiving, and the retrieval side needs a route toward order assembly or dispatch. Draw both paths before locating rows. Frame and beam capacities follow the finished arrangement and the maximum intended loads. Forklift reach under load decides usable upper elevations alongside the building's measured clear height.
Cold-space positions and the installation sequence
Rincon and Dean Forest Road include tall 32–36 foot clear rear-load space, while older Garden City stock may be 18–24 feet clear. Flow configurations in those buildings need different elevation checks. Refrigerated space makes storage depth worth examining, but not at the expense of the pallet rotation or access the operation requires.
Receiving surges and post-storm restock can require staging outside the permanent rack footprint. Coordinate installation work zones around those needs and the routes that must stay open. Our warehouse relocation service can align new flow lanes with the transfer and opening of storage areas. Send the load profile and building drawing to compare flow with pushback, drive-in or selective stock zones in a warehouse consultation.
Compare storage options: pallet rack, pushback, pallet flow, drive-in, cantilever and carton flow. Coordinate transfers through our warehouse relocation service.
